How to use TikTok's official top 100 best sellers to see which categories are growing and which new entries are likely to stay, and decide what to consider sourcing.
What Market shows
COMSEE imports TikTok's official top 100 best sellers (products, videos, LIVE, creators, and shops) every day and shows material for these decisions:
- Is this category growing? Is the growth short-lived?
- Is a product that just entered the top likely to stay (should you consider sourcing it)?
- Where do your products and shop rank?
Only organizations with a connected TikTok Shop can see market data. Organizations without one see no numbers. Data arrives 1–2 days late because of TikTok's publishing schedule.
Figures on the first screen
- Growing categories: The number of categories whose daily average top 100 sales over the last 7 days are 1.3× or more of the previous 28 days. The note shows the ratio for your category (or the largest one). Select it to jump to the categories card.
- New entries likely to stay: Among products that entered the top 100 for the first time that day, the number with a high outlook. The note shows the track record of past entries with the same outlook. Select it to jump to the new entries. If there are no predictions for that day yet, it shows "─".
- When data import is delayed, the first card shows how many days it has not been updated.
Categories card
Shows top 100 sales by category and how the last 7 days compare with the previous 28. ▲ means 1.3× or more, ▼ means 0.8× or less. Day-over-day changes are not used because daily swings are large.
The note below counts past growth spikes in categories that were still 1.3× or more four weeks later. Use it as a guide to how long growth tends to last.
New entries and the outlook to stay
Switch to "New" to list products that entered the top 100 for the first time that day, with the outlook to stay (high, medium, low) under each card.
The outlook predicts whether a product stays in the top 100 on 5 or more of the 14 days after it enters. It uses only what is known on the day of entry: day-one rank, how many videos sold it and how high they ranked, the same shop's earlier new entries and how many of them stayed, how many of the last 28 days the same shop was in the top, and the day of the week. The prediction is retrained every day on new entries whose results were known by then.
"Outlook to stay" on a product
- The first line shows the track record of new entries with the same outlook (e.g., "Of past new entries with the same outlook, 32 of 127 (25.2%) stayed in the top 100 on 5 or more of 14 days"). For products whose 14 days have passed, it shows whether the product actually stayed.
- "What raised or lowered the outlook" starts from the probability for an average new entry and adds how much each input raised or lowered it. Inputs that raised it are dark, and those that lowered it are gray.
- "Predicted probability and actual rate" shows, for each band, the average predicted probability (hollow dot) and the rate that actually stayed (solid dot). This product's band is highlighted. Predicted probabilities tend to run high, so read the outlook from the band's track record.
Why it is growing
The right side of a product shows "Why it is growing" only when a sudden rise is detected.
- This product: how many times its daily sales (low end) over the last 7 days are compared with the previous 28. For products that were not in the top 100 in the previous 28 days, it shows how many of the last 7 days they were.
- Category: how the last 7 days of the product's category compare with the previous 28.
Deciding what to consider sourcing
- On the first screen, check the growing categories and the ratio for your category.
- Switch to "New" and open products with a high outlook.
- Check the track record and the inputs that raised the outlook (day-one rank, videos, the shop's record). If "Why it is growing" is shown, check whether the rise looks short-lived.
- To pursue it, select "Draft a case" on the product page. A new case opens with the product name filled in; choose a partner, register it and check the profitability.
Market figures are the low end of TikTok's official sales ranges. Actual sales are at least that much.
